Hofstraat Kelder Myrtledene Avenue

Situated on the charming Myrtledene just outside Malmesbury, Hofstraat Cellar has established itself in recent years as one of the signature producers of the south-after Swartland wine region. Classified as a Garagiste cellar, Hofstraat produces Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage and Barbera reflecting the honest fruit and complexity characteristic of the area. Recently a Chenin Blanc sourced from the acclaimed vineyards of the Darling Hills joined the Hofstraat label.

Swartland Wine Cellars R45 to Paarl 3km out of town

Established in 1948 this well known winery produces approximately 23 000 tons of grapes per year and exports around 70% of their product to more than 30 countries.
Their ranges consist of the signature Swartland range of easy drinking, respected varietals and Eagle Crest with its three premium blended wines, to the ultra-premium Indalo range which offers a classic and sophisticated addition to the dinner table.

Swartland Wine and Olive Route c/o Church and Voortrekker Road

Visit the Swartland Santam Wine Route for an authentic wine tourism experience in the countryside. Situated within easy reach of Cape Town the route boasts 20 members – including big wine companies, private cellars, garagistes and wine merchants. The region stretches from Paardeberg in the south to the Berg River in the north and encompasses the beautiful Riebeek Valley and the towns of Malmesbury, Piketberg and Porterville.

Swartland Birding Route

The Swartland is rich in bird life, with 56 of the 170 endemic species of Southern Africa that can be found here. The Swartland now boasts a brand new birding route after volunteers, birders and Swartland Tourism joined forces to establish fourteen individual routes.
Full maps and summaries of the routes can be found on the Swartland Tourism website. The maps give a clear indication of reserves, hiking trails, hides, a checklist, as well as other tourist attractions.
